ESCANABA - If you're driving in your car on U.S. 2 and 41 and feel a jolt, get back in your lane. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has been busy installing "rumble strips," grooved areas ground into asphalt to deter lane drifting. The areas are located along the center line on two-way traffic roads. Many highways already had similar strips along the shoulder.
